Traveling the World With Flat Stanley at Fox Hill

This week in second grade we’re traveling the world with Flat Stanley! This was a really fun project that Ms. Scheffer and I worked on with Mrs. Tigges and Mrs. Lewis. Second graders read and learned about many different places in the world through Flat Stanley’s adventures across the globe. After students read their book, they wrote summaries and then used iMovie to record their summaries, and assembled illustrations from their book to bring the story to life. Students also used ChatterPix to creatively have the characters in their book introduce and talk about themselves. We then used our green screen to put students into the setting of their book to give their recommendation and rating. We used Book Creator to assemble all of these components into expressive ebooks. Designing their own book in Book Creator gave each student choice in how they wanted their book to be designed and how it would look so that they could best display their learning using their own style and aesthetic. Our second graders were focused and hard working and were very proud to show off their books to their classmates at the end of the project. Please view the examples of a few of their ebooks in the video below.
