The BPS EdTech Team is excited to announce the first Tech Savvy Parenting night which is a new “Digital Bootcamp Series” designed to educate and connect parents and community members of Burlington Public Schools. The first event is being held on Tuesday, October 7 from 6:00 to 7:30 pm at Marshall Simonds Middle School in the Library Learning Commons. The focus of the first event will be on digital safety and is geared towards parents of students in grades K-12.
The event will be hosted by BPS EdTech Team members Jenn Scheffer and Kelly Floyd. Jenn and Kelly both specialize in digital citizenship education. Kelly will be sharing her knowledge and expertise on digital safety with parents in grades K-8. Jenn will be providing information, strategies, and digital citizenship resources for parents of children in grades 9-12. This will be a hands-on, interactive session, so parents are encouraged to bring some type of device to the event, whether it be a laptop, smartphone, or tablet. This evening will be an excellent opportunity to learn how to balance giving your child digital freedom, while still keeping him or her safe.
We ask that you RSVP for this free event by registering through Eventbrite. The link to register can be found by clicking here or through the link provided on the flyer shown below. Please note that printed tickets are not necessary to bring to the event. We hope that you will join us on Tuesday, October 7th! Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact Jenn Scheffer at firstname.lastname@example.org. And because we would like this to be an open dialogue, you may absolutely bring your son or daughter to the event!
