Today I want to share the Google News Archive. This Archive allows users to perform a tailored search of the Google News Archive. Google News has newspapers scanned for viewing dating back to the late 19th century.
This Archive is not just for historians and history buffs, but a way of showing students a primary source from the past. Students can read and see how news happened over one hundred years ago, and compare it to today’s non-stop news cycle. A great way to learn history is to experience the words from the writers who covered it. This collection of primary source voices is a lesson in history, journalism, and language arts.
Most of the newspaper archives are free, however; some papers require a fee for accessing their archive. Below is a short video showing users how to access the Google News Archive.
